Message: Can anyone tell me how to delete a database from Fritz? I've got Fritz 8 and for the life of me can't figure out how to get rid of some of the old databases I've created and then decided I didn't want to use. Thanks in advance! ws

Message: Open the database and then choose Tools, Database, Delete Files. After confirmation, apparently it will delete your file from the disk, as well as the Fritz view. I just did this and it gave me a runtime error! It was a pgn file, not a database, however, so maybe that was the reason.
Otherwise, simply delete the file from your hard drive (or rename it), and then try to open it in Fritz using the drop down box. It will give an error and remove it from view.

Artur Yusupov, whose own books are well worth a look, wrote after losing to Karpov in the 1983 USSR chess championship that he had not often felt that he had been outplayed, but in this game that's exactly what he did feel. "However," he ...

Message: get a runtime error trying the "Delete Files" option to remove a database! But as John says, it's easy to work around by physically purging it from the harddrive. I love Fritz, but it is a bit flaky at times... ——— New York State's Chess Champion? He's 14 — Many states hold their chess championships over Labor Day weekend, among them New York State. Its championship is said to be the oldest chess tournament in the country. This year was the 132nd edition and it ended Monday. Many top chess players have been New York State chess champion, including Jose Raul Capabalanca (in 1910, before he became world champion), Reuben Fine (1941), William Lombardy (1954), Pal Benko (1961 and 1962), Robert Byrne (1987), Hikaru Nakamura (2004 and 2007), Gata Kamsky (2005), and Joel Benjamin (nine times between 1985 and 2002). In this year’s championship, Benjamin again finished atop the field, tying for first with Marc Esserman ...
