Kasparov in virtual reality
I read in this newspaper article that Kasparov will be playing chess computer X3D Fritz in a virtual-reality environment through the website X3D.com. It also said that the computer company promises images of a floating chess board between Kasparov and Fritz. Does anyone know more about this?
I think it's cool, by the way, that Kasparov often seems willingto accept challenges that can be risky, like when he played against Deep Blue and Deep Junior.

I understand he deserves somewhat of an appearance fee but maybe if the winner takes all it would be a bit more interesting.

What I meant was risky with regard to his reputation, not with regard to the money.

Third time pays for all...
...and my gut feelings tell me that Kasparov(should this match take place)will be doing another tank job, just like he did in the other two.

Do you mean that he intentionally played badly?

Thanks for the links!

... I mean that he threw those matches, deliberately. Look at the last(6th)game in the 2nd Deep Blue match, the 19 move Caro-Kann. It's as phony as a 3 dollar bill. I haven't seen a dive like that since Brodie jumped off the bridge! As for the Junior match, what do you call that 6th game bail-out by Kasparov? He had all the winning chances in that final position, but chickened out when crunch time came. I expect more of the same if this newest match comes off,and I also expect the usual Kasparov whine,b****,moan, and bellyache routine after it's over.

Why would he throw away those matches deliberately? I would imagine that reputation means more to him than money.

Money is the bottom line...
...for Kasparov. Always has been, always will be. He tanked the Deeper Blue match in hopes of setting up a 3rd contest for a super payday. But he shot himself in the foot when IBM pulled the machine out of chess to make it a doctor,or somesuch. And then playing like a wienie vs. Junior didn't help his credibility any.
